REPORT ON THE MAGNITUDE OF TECHNICAL QUALITY IN THE TRANSLATION OF SCIENTIFIC ARTICLES IN THE FIELD OF HEALTH

This work aims to report professional experience on the topic of translating scientific articles in field of health from/to the English language. It underscores, in particular, the relevance of the professional translator in the role of mediator of scientific knowledge produced in health. This descriptive experience report describes the need for health translators to permanently improve their linguistic and technical experience in the different health sub-areas in the vernacular Portuguese and the English language, and their proficiency in their translation profession’s auxiliary equipment. The role of translation in exercising its function as a mediator of scientific knowledge in the field of health is recognized when discussing theorists and scholars of linguistics and translation in association with the professional experience of the first author. Finally, the authors justify the importance of the technical quality of the translation of scientific articles in the field of health and the relevance of this professional’s contribution to the production of future work in debating a topic that still lacks contributions at national and international levels.
