MINDFUL EATING APLICADO EN PACIENTES CON DIABETES MIELLITUS: REVISIÓN NARRATIVA

La diabetes mellitus se considera un problema de salud global caracterizado por hiperglucemia. La terapia nutricional ha sido fundamental para obtener un buen control glucémico, convirtiéndose en determinante para el éxito del tratamiento farmacológico. En este contexto, este estudio tuvo como objetivo discutir la alimentación consciente y cómo puede ser beneficiosa en el manejo de la diabetes. Para ello, se realizó una revisión narrativa utilizando las bases de datos Pubmed, LILACS, Scielo y Google Scholar con los siguientes descriptores en inglés (DeCS/MeSH): "diabetes mellitus", "mindful eating", "nutrition" y "treatament". Un total de 30 estudios se incluyeron en la síntesis, de los cuales cinco se discutieron con mayor detalle sobre la "aplicación de la alimentación consciente en pacientes diabéticos". La mayoría de los estudios tuvieron un tamaño de la muestra de más de 20 pacientes. La mayoría de los pacientes fueron diagnosticados con diabetes mellitus tipo 2 y obesidad. Los estudios aplicaron técnicas que enseñaron a los pacientes a comer conscientemente. Según los resultados obtenidos, la edad avanzada se ha relacionado como un factor independiente asociado a altos niveles de alimentación consciente, además, mayores niveles de mindfulness se relacionaron con una conducta alimentaria externa y emocional más baja y más contenida en adultos diabéticos. Los hallazgos sugieren que este enfoque puede ser una estrategia prometedora para ayudar al tratamiento de la diabetes. Sin embargo, los estudios prospectivos y / o experimentales son necesarios para comprender mejor cómo puede actuar la conciencia alimentaria en el tratamiento de la enfermedad.
