La Diabetes Mellitus tipo 2 (DM2) está asociada a disfunciones hormonales, como la reducción de la testosterona libre y biodisponible, especialmente en hombres. La terapia de reemplazo de testosterona (TRT) ha surgido como una estrategia complementaria para mejorar el control glucémico, la composición corporal y los parámetros cardiovasculares en pacientes diabéticos con hipogonadismo. Este artículo revisa los principales mecanismos y evidencias clínicas que respaldan el uso de esteroides anabólicos androgénicos como adyuvante terapéutico en la DM2, señalando beneficios en la sensibilidad a la insulina, el perfil inflamatorio y la fuerza muscular.
