Abstract

Seminars are research methods applied by teachers, with the aim of leading students to a reflection with in-depth perspectives on a given topic, and can be carried out in teams. From the perspective of teachers, they are used as teaching methods in schools, as they allow students to develop their skills and research autonomy, in addition to preparing presentations on a certain subject determined by the teacher, making them assume the role of the teacher during the class. In order to understand what students from a high school in Coari-AM think about presenting seminars and to promote a workshop to help students in the preparation and presentation of these activities, this intervention project was elaborated. The methodology is of a basic nature, with a qualitative-quantitative approach, within the pedagogical residency program, where questionnaires and workshops were applied. As main results, we observed that the students present several seminars at school, and report that the greatest difficulty is public speaking. After the workshop, the students reported feeling more confident. The workshop was of paramount importance, because a method so used in the school, deserves prior preparation of the students, and after the workshop, the students answered that they felt more prepared for future seminars in their trajectory as students.
