TERAPIA PROBIÓTICA EN EL MANEJO NUTRICIONAL DEL SÍNDROME DEL COLON IRRITABLE: UN ESTUDIO DE REVISIÓN

El síndrome del intestino irritable (SII) es un trastorno gastrointestinal funcional que puede causar dolor abdominal y distensión abdominal, distensión abdominal, irritabilidad, ansiedad y depresión. Su clasificación puede variar según el predominio de estreñimiento, diarrea o hábitos intestinales mixtos. Su diagnóstico se basa en los síntomas y la ausencia de otras enfermedades relacionadas con el tracto gastrointestinal. El tratamiento puede variar entre farmacológico, dietoterapia y uso de suplementos, donde se ha destacado el interés por el uso de probióticos. El estudio tuvo como objetivo verificar las repercusiones del uso de probióticos en el manejo nutricional de pacientes con SII. Se trata de una revisión bibliográfica narrativa de la literatura, utilizando artículos científicos de las bases de datos PubMed, SciELO y Science Direct, en inglés y portugués, en la que se seleccionaron un total de 30 estudios, siendo los 7 principales destacados en una tabla. La suplementación con probióticos, asociada a una dieta equilibrada, con la reducción de alimentos fermentadores, corrobora tanto la reducción y el control de los síntomas, como la calidad de vida de los pacientes con SII.
